Certified Safety Training for Scaffolding & Access Systems

Safe scaffolding isn’t just about good gear. It’s about people who know exactly how to build, inspect, and use that gear every day. That’s why MDM offers scaffolding safety training that goes well beyond a quick toolbox talk.

MDM is an SAIA-accredited Training Institute (ATI), a recognition from the Scaffolding Access Industry Association that only select providers earn. This means our instructors follow national standards and our courses meet the same high bar used across the industry. We can train your crews at our Texas facility or bring the class to your site, so the lessons fit your project. Every participant who passes gets a training card that proves they’ve met SAIA requirements and are ready to work safely.

Training Programs Offered

We know that not every site - and not every worker - needs the same level of instruction. That’s why we provide three main programs.

Site-Specific Training

This course focuses on the exact scaffold or access system in place on a single project. Our trainers use your installed equipment as the classroom. Crews learn how to climb, inspect, and work safely on that setup only. It’s perfect for general contractors or subcontractors who need approval to use an existing scaffold but won’t be moving to other sites with the card.

User Training

User training goes further. It teaches how to operate and inspect a variety of scaffolding and access systems so participants can carry their skills from job to job. General contractors and subcontractors who work multiple projects gain a portable credential while learning daily inspection routines and safe-use practices.

Competent Person Training

Foremen, superintendents, and safety managers need a deeper understanding. Our competent person course covers scaffold anatomy, stability, common hazards, and inspection techniques. Graduates leave ready to identify and correct problems on site before they become incidents.

Why Certified Training Matters

Proper scaffold safety training does more than keep a crew safe, it keeps the whole job on track.

  • Compliance: OSHA wants every worker who sets up or climbs a scaffold to be trained by someone qualified. An SAIA card tells inspectors and clients straight away that your team is up to that standard.

  • Fewer Accidents: Crews who know what to look for are far less likely to cause a fall or a scaffold failure.

  • Better Pace: When everyone understands the equipment, they spot issues early and fix them on the spot instead of waiting for outside help. That keeps the work moving.

  • Professional Recognition: The SAIA training card is accepted across the industry and gives owners and GCs proof of competence.

On many projects, that card is the difference between starting work right away or being turned away at the gate.

Who Benefits From Scaffolding Safety Training?

Almost every trade that works at height can gain from certified instruction:

  • General contractor project teams who need daily inspections and safe access for multiple trades.

  • Subcontractors, such as painters, masons, mechanical crews, anyone who climb and move scaffolds daily.

  • Safety officers and superintendents responsible for site-wide compliance.

  • Demolition and restoration crews working in partially dismantled structures.

When everyone on site knows how to use and inspect the equipment, accidents drop and productivity climbs.

Safety First, Always

MDM’s training program reflects our core mission: promoting safety, better field practices, and practical innovation. Crews don’t just hear about safety - they climb, tighten fittings, and run the checks themselves until it feels second nature.

Whether the project uses supported scaffolds, swing stages, mast climbers, or construction hoists, our instructors show each step in plain language: how to set it up, lock it off, and give it a solid inspection.

When we train on your site, the team practices on the exact scaffold they’ll be using tomorrow. Same ground, same layout, same weather. The skills stick because they’re learned where the work happens.

Take the Next Step

Certified training is the simplest way to protect workers, meet OSHA requirements, and keep projects moving without costly delays. MDM’s scaffolding safety training gives your crews the knowledge and the proof they need to work with confidence.
