Why Fiberglass Over Wood or Aluminum
When it comes to scaffold platforms, something as fundamental as the material directly affects worker safety, productivity, and long-term operating costs. While wood and aluminum may be cheaper and lighter, respectively, a fiberglass scaffold plank offers the best balance of safety, durability, and value over its lifecycle, especially in demanding construction environments.

Non-Conductive Safety for Electrical & Wet Environments
Another advantage to using a fiberglass scaffold plank is its non-conductive qualities. A non-conductive scaffold plank is safer to use near electrical hazards, unlike wet wood and aluminum, which both conduct electricity.
Fiberglass is therefore a better material for use in hazardous environments, such as electrical substations and power generation facilities, as well as industrial maintenance projects. Additionally, it absorbs virtually no water, so there’s no risk of it swelling, rotting, or becoming slippery after prolonged exposure to moisture.

Most fiberglass scaffolding planks are available in standard lengths, including 7ft, 8 ft, 10 ft, and 12 ft variants. Depending on span and configuration, their load capacities generally range from 50 to 75 lb per foot, making them highly robust and exhibiting consistent deflection characteristics.

End Types: End Caps vs. Built-In Hooks
There are typically two types of end configurations available for a fiberglass scaffolding plank:
